Biography Jair Jetzehu Montes Rangel (They/Them)

They are a performance artist, dancer and musician, born in Mexico and based in Brussels, finishing their Master's degree at P.A.R.T.S. Their background is in contemporary dance, street dance, and cumbia. They play live electronic music, studied 6 years of Music training in percussion and 10 years of professional dance Studies in Mexico (ENDCC), Cuba (ENA), Senegal (Ecole des sables), and Brussels (P.A.R.T.S).

Today they are busy hybridizing both parts of their background practices into a research practice that is driven by the question: “How to generate/transform spaces where one can engage and connect with one’s body and identity through the embroidery of live electronic music, movement practices, storytelling through role-play, and the study of theory?”.

Jair's theory interests are around cyberfeminism, queer studies, and trans materialism, helping them to think critically around their work.
