Biography Marikki Nyfors

Marikki Nyfors is a Finnish artist working with performance art, dance, storytelling, writing and dance film. She is participating in the STUDIOS MA program in P.A.R.T.S., graduating in 2024. In her work Marikki is inspired by songs, objects, the personal, playfulness, the audience and sharing experiences and emotions. She also has a particular interest in playground slides! She works a lot with humour and (self-)irony as ways of dealing with complex matters, developing them into more accessible and critical outcomes, especially in her work with text. Marikki is often acquainted with themes of loneliness and (yearning for) belonging.

Previously Marikki studied at the Iceland University of the Arts and Tampere Conservatoire. In the year 2024 she will finally graduate for good, for now, and work on some new projects as well as continue her research around objecthood. Further dreams she has for the following years include making music, making films, writing (a lot), reading (more than she’s had the time to do in her years of study) and exploring different ways of bringing together her variety of practices.
