“When death is coming close, people often start staring at their own hand.”: We say this in Japan. I agree somehow because I think they are checking their own bodies if the bodies are really their own. When I was working on human sculpture, I was wondering what makes us feel it is human. For me it was clear that realistic shapes similar to the human body were not working anymore. And when I started using real human bodies as a sculpture medium, one of my biggest questions was how my eyes gaze at a human body. Also in this presentation, I want to cast a question to you how to gaze at our human bodies and how much your eyesights are hacked politically. I read in a book that Monarch butterflies immigrate to the south and die there, then only the next generations can visit parent’s memories. However I would like to look for some possibilities of how to access our losing past and future memories, through the phantoms archived in our bodies by crystalizing something painful.
