Stefa Govaart BE

Stefa Govaart (1992, NL) is an artist working across dance, performance and theory, engaged in the shared creation of stage works and performance and theory programs in which the historical present of critique, the laboring body and the “experimental” are continuously questioned. Govaart performed in works by Oscar Murillo/Lydia McGlinchey, Eszter Salamon, Claudia Pagès Rabal, PRICE, among others. They collaborate with artists such as Bryana Fritz, Chloe Chignell, Marko Gutić Mižimakov and Osamu Shikichi. They are a founding member of Sex Negativity at Amsterdam School of Cultural Analysis, and organize spring*meeting at Performing Arts Forum (St. Erme, FR). Recent work was published in the exhibition catalogue of Simon Asencio’s exhibition series Through the Valley of the Nest of Spiders, and presented at Les Urbaines (Lausanne, CH). Based in Brussels, Govaart holds MA's in Cultural Analysis (University of Amsterdam) and Performance Studies (New York University), having previously studied at P.A.R.T.S., where they teach writing and theory.
