Thomas Bîrzan FR/RO
Thomas Bîrzan is a freelance dancer and performer based in Brussels. He studied at P.A.R.T.S (Research Cycle 17-18) and has since collaborated with various dance artists – primarily with Mette Ingvartsen, whether as a dancer (To Come Extended; Moving in Concert; Skatepark; Delirious Night) or choreographic assistant (Rush; Choreomania). He has also worked as a performer with Mette Edvardsen (Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine), Ingrid Berger Myrhe (In Other Words), Dora Garcia (The Romeos) and was choreographic assistant for Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker/Némo Flouret (Forêt).
In parallel, Thomas has completed a Master’s degree in Modern Literature (Sorbonne Nouvelle) and another Master’s in Dance Studies (Université Paris 8), focusing on the poetics of documentation, artists’ writings and « Livres d’artistes chorégraphiques ». He has published short texts and articles in both independent and academic journals (Performance Research).
Thomas has been teaching the writing classes and providing individual coaching at P.A.R.T.S. since 2022. Since 2025, he is a member of the school's pedagogical committee and coordinates, with Stefa Govaart, the theory program.
